My Little PreK World!!!!

WORKING AND PRAYING

Romans 12:6-7 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

As I was putting away all of the toys, puzzles, art supplies, and stuff I was praying.
Every summer I begin praying for the children that the Lord will entrust me with for the following year and their parents.  I know that the children that I get will come from different backgrounds, circumstances, and situations.  I pray that I will be able to reach them and teach them.  I pray for their education but most importantly I pray that they will know Christ as their personal Savior by asking Him into their hearts.  I also pray for their parents, that they will raise them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and teach them His ways.
Just like I stated the other day about us standing before the Lord one day and giving an account of how we raise our own children and what we allow them to do, I believe I will stand before the Lord and answer for the children He puts in my care year after year.  It is not a task that I take lightly.  I want to please Him and love His little children.
I know there will be good times and there will be difficult times, but that's just the way it is in life.  I believe that teaching is a calling from the Lord and I believe He has called me to teach, and for that I feel completely blessed!

Now, let me start by saying that you teachers that read this will completely sympathize, the rest of you...well, let's just say that our rooms don't get to stay the way they are from year to year.
I wish I had been blogging and taking pics at the end of the school year to show you what my room looked like when it was together and then the process of packing it up, and what it looks like when we leave for the summer.
They move EVERYTHING out in the hall so they can wax our floor then they put it all back in.
I would like to say that when I got back this year my stuff had been put back in in a somewhat orderly fashion!

Here are some before pics:
BOXES EVERYWHERE!!!!!
That green shelf to the right is on its side and it is a BULLY to move!  I had to get the man that was waxing the floors to help me.
I didn't even know where to start...

I worked for a solid 6 hours today and emptied most of the boxes.  The only ones left are the books and I need some organization for those.  I'm going to buy boxes for them and label the boxes all nice and neat.

I also have to put up the curtains on the shelves.  I do this because: #1 I can't stand to look at the clutter, and #2 I teach 4 year olds and if I don't put up curtains toys and books will be EVERYWHERE the first day of school and quite possibly the second and third days too :).  But they do learn very quickly when they can and cannot play with certain things.

I have to change out two of the center signs (I switched the reading carpet and blocks) and hang posters on the wall.

I also have to revamp the bulletin boards and decorate the door.

Here are my after pics from today:
Sorry about my shoes on the rug :)
This is the block area, with the green art table right behind it, the red table in the back is the math/science table (it's still covered with stuff that needs to be put up somewhere), and to the right of that is the sandbox.
The yellow table is fine motor/reading/writing and in the back is dramatic play.
This is the whole group carpet and the reading area.
Another view of the block carpet and that big green monster of a shelf that holds all of our art supplies.
I still have to hang the curtains on all of the shelves.
I will take better pics and upload them when I finish.  I am really pleased with the progress that I made today!
